Lady Pirates Seek State Playoff Berth

Lady Pirate’s soccer is looking at a shot at the state playoffs after a recent winning streak that is taking them to a current record of 9-6-1, 5-2. The Lady Pirates have won six of their last seven games with their sole loss in that streak to the St. Pius Lady Sartans, a traditional powerhouse in girls’ soccer. The score was 7-1 in that contest. The Lady Pirates are second in district 4-A 5 with a 5-2 district record just behind St. Pius with a 7-0 district record. The Lady Pirates are currently ranked ninth in the state in 4A out of 25 teams in that classification. The Lady Pirates close out their regular season against the Valencia Jaguars (4-9-10) on Thursday, October 20 on the road.

The GHS boys’ soccer team is currently 0-14-2, 07 and will also play Valencia High School on Thursday to close out the regular season.

Cibola County Finish Line The GHS volleyball team currently has a 9-9, 2-2 record and will play the Valencia Jaguars (9-9, 1-2) in their next game on Thursday, October 20 at home.

The Laguna-Acoma Lady Hawk Volleyball Team remains undefeated at 13-0 and will have their next game this Thursday, October 20 on the road against the Rehoboth Lynx (6-12) in a non-district game.

The Laguna-Acoma football team lost their most recent district contest 5-0 to the Santa Rosa Lions (7-2, 2-0) on Friday, October 14. The Hawks will host this Friday, October 21 at 7 p.m., the Mc-Curdy Bobcats (3-6 0-2) in a district game. The Hawks are currently in third place in 2A district 1/2/5.
