New Mexico United is thrilled to announce their first new player signing ahead of the 2024 USL Championship season. Midfielder Marco Micaletto joins United after a terrific spell as captain of Columbus Crew II of MLS Next Pro that saw him score 9+ goals in back-to-back seasons and win the MLS Next Pro Cup MVP in 2022.

'Marco provides a terrific scoring touch and physicality in the midfield that we expect will take us to another level, offensively,' said New Mexico United Sporting Director Itamar Keinan. 'His off-field character is just as impressive to us, as he has been a community champion everywhere he has played. We're thrilled to welcome Marco to New Mexico.'

Prior to scoring nineteen times - including the title-winning goal in the inaugural MLS Next Pro season - and assisting four more over the last two seasons in Columbus, Micaletto played for USL League One’s South Georgia Tormenta FC, where he made 71 appearances in three seasons across all competitions - scoring 22 goals. He played college soccer at Young Harris College and Akron University, helping lead the Zips to the 2018 National Championship Game.

Micaletto was born in Rome, Italy, and raised in England.
