ALBUQUERQUE, NM - New Mexico United is excited to announce the signing of defender Zico Bailey, pending league and federation approval. Bailey joins United after successful spells with FC Cincinnati of Major League Soccer and San Antonio FC of USL Championship. Bailey made his professional debut at just 16 years old with LA Galaxy II, and has played nearly 4,000 professional minutes, despite being just 22 years old.

'We are very excited to welcome Zico to the New Mexico United family,' said United Sporting Director Itamar Keinan. 'We have been monitoring Zico for some time, so when the opportunity arose to bring him on board, we knew we wanted to do it. His talent, skill, speed, and dedication are unquestioned, and we believe he can have an immediate impact. We can't wait to get Zico onto the pitch and into our community.”

Bailey’s speed and stalwart defending saw him join LA Galaxy II and the LA Galaxy Academy in 2017, before playing one season at Cal State Fullerton. Following that stint, Bailey went overseas, playing in Sweden and Denmark in 2019. That success drew the attention of Major League Soccer’s FC Cincinnati, who brought Bailey back stateside for three seasons, before USL Championship’s San Antonio FC brought him on-board on a 25day contract earlier this season, subsequently signing him to a full deal.

Bailey was born in Las Vegas, Nevada and has represented the United States National Team at the youth level.
