ALBUQUERQUE, NM - New Mexico United emphatically bested Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC by a 2-0 margin on Saturday night, in front of a sell-out crowd of 14,519 - the largest crowd of the season. First half goals from Daniel Bruce and Cristian Nava paced the hosts in this one. New Mexico are unbeaten in their last five matches, and have scored eight goals in their last three

Kalen Ryden, taking it on the bounce and sneaking around the defender. Nava then dribbled around the Switchbacks goalkeeper, but still had one defender to beat. Nava continued to take the ball on the bounce, and tapped home from just a few feet away for his first career goal at Rio Grande Credit Union Field at Isotopes Park. Nava’s goal was during United’s “Magic Minute” - a tradition that sees the entire stadium stand and yell from when the clock strikes 19:12 (the year of New Mexico’s admittance to the Union as a state), until 20:18 (when New Mexico United was founded. Nava is just the second player to score during the Magic Minute in club history. (Moar 2019.)

It was Bruce who added the final tally for the Black & Yellow - this one in the 43rd minute. A failed Switchbacks clearance found the foot of Will Seymore, who settled the ball and then whipped a low ball toward Bruce. The Englishman took a step left to wrong-foot his defender, and then sent a left-footed strike past the keeper for a 2-0 lead that United would not relinquish.

The win closes out the regular season for New Mexico, who now set their sights on a firstround showdown on the road at Sacramento Republic FC. That match is set for next Saturday, October 22, at 8 PM MT.
