GRANTS, N.M. - Congratulations to New Mexico State Police Sergeant Edward Archie for taking first place in the Annual Grants Wild West Rodeo Battle of the Badges bull riding competition over the Fourth of July weekend in Grants, NM!
Competing against officers from the Milan Police Department, Grants Police Department, Cibola County Sheriff's Office, and the New Mexico Corrections Department, Sgt. Archie rode his bull for the full 8 seconds to claim the championship buckle and traveling trophy.
What's even more impressive? This was Sgt. Archie's first time ever riding a bull.
With guidance from retired New Mexico State Police officer Peterson Long, Sgt. Archie put in the hard work, faced the challenge head-on, and proved that determination and grit go a long way.
