Pirate Sports Update

This week in Pirates sports, football was on a bye week, with the other sports on away games and matches.

The lady Pirates soccer team stand 5-8, 1-4 after a duo of road trips. They had an 11-1 win over the lady Eagles of Belen (1-11, 0- 4) and a 9-0 loss to the lady Sartans of St. Pius (10-1, 4-0) on October 7. In the Belen game the lady Pirates were led by Chloe Rychener who scored four goals. Next up, the lady Pirates will be at a district home game against the Valencia Jaguars (11-1) on Thursday, October 14 followed by another home game against the Gallup Bengals (2-12, 0-4) on Saturday, October 16.

The GHS boys’ soccer team are 0-13, 0-5 after a couple of recent losses. They lost to Belen (4- 9, 2-3) on October 5 and then lost to St. Pius (6-9-1, 4-0-1) by a score of 10-0 on October 7. They will play Valencia (5-8-1) at home on Thursday, October 14 as well as Gallup (0-12, 04) on Saturday, October 16.

The lady Pirates volleyball team is currently 8-8 after losing 3-0 to St. Pius on October 5 and then defeating the Rehoboth Lynx on October 7 by a score of 3-0. Next up for the lady Pirates will be a district home game against the Valencia Jaguars (4- 10) on Tuesday, October 12 then they will travel to Albuquerque to face off with district rival lady Hornets of Highland High School (1-12) on Thursday, October 14.
