A trio of Grants High School grapplers have made the state tournament after qualifying at 4-A regionals held at Kirtland High School last weekend. Larry Meador (middle) (41-12), a junior, who wrestles at the 145-pound weight class wrestled in the championship match and placed second after losing a 10-4 decision to Samuel Eveland, a senior, of Bloomfield High School (44-4).

Manuel Gonzales (right) (37-13), a junior, placed fourth in the 121-pound weight class after losing in the thirdplace bout to Adam Abdeljawad (3311) a sophomore at Miyamura High School by a sudden victory 8-6.

Douglas Mitchell (left) (26-17), a freshman, placed seventh in the 189pound weight division after losing to Gilbert Martinez of Robertson High School (14-23) by a Fall 1:40.

The state wrestling tournament will be held at the Rio Rancho events center this upcoming Friday, February weekend.
