Pirates defeat Bernalillo 76-73

The Pirates hit I-40 before the snow storms and played a familiar foe in the Bernalillo Spartans (8-8) and bested them by three points (76-73). The Pirates advance their record to 10-3 and will play the Wingate Bears (6-5) on January 9. The lady Pirates were defeated by Bernalillo (5-6) 57-40 on January 5 and later defeated by Gallup (8-2) on January 6th by a score of 70-40 and are currently 212. The Lady Hawks basketball team is 4-3 and will play the 4-9 Cuba Rams on January 11 at home.

The L-A boys basketball team is 1-10 after snapping their losing streak with a 62-59 win over Zuni High School (6-- 7).

Grants High School Lady Pirate Wrestlers placed 21st out of 30 schools at the Girls Conflict at Cleveland this past weekend. Notables were Raeyna Valdez who placed fifth in the 120pound weight class and Jaylene Morin who placed sixth in the 152-pound weight class.
