March Madness is literally around the corner as area basketball teams wrap up district play.

The Grants High School boys’ basketball team is currently 15-10, 34 and in third place in their district just behind St. Pius (14-9,6-1) and Highland at 19-5, 6-0. In the Maxpreps state rankings the Pirates are in ninth place in the rankings and Highland in the coveted number one spot with St. Pius in the middle in fifth place.

The Pirates recently lost their last two games, on February 13 they lost to St. Pius by a score of 72-53 and on February 16 they lost to Highland by a score of 76-61. Their last district game will be Tuesday, February 20 at Belen (8-16, 1-5).

The Lady Pirates (420,1-6) will host the lady Eagles of Belen (10-14,24) on Tuesday February 20 in their final district game.

The Lady Hawks of Laguna-Acoma are currently 14-8, 3-1 after a close 49-45 district loss to Dulce (14-9,3-1). Both teams may be headed to a district playoff game as they are both currently tied 3-1 in the district. The Lady Hawks will play in their next game against Rehoboth Christian (1011,2-2) on Tuesday, February 20th.

The L-A boys basketball team is currently 3-20 and 0-4 in distinct play.
