GRANTS, N.M. — The Grants High School cheerleading squad has quite a few exciting events coming up this fall.

Kicking off the events, the GHS cheer will have a unique performance at the homecoming assembly on Friday, October 2 at GHS.

When asked about the performance, GHS first-year student Isabella Saavadra said,“I am really excited about the assembly because our dance is really cute that we are doing. I feel like a lot of people are going to love it.”

On Saturday, October 3rd, the GHS cheer team will be in the Homecoming Parade (10 a.m.) and then later cheer at the homecoming football game (3 p.m.), where the Grants Pirates will host Espanola Valley.

Saavadra shared her enthusiasm surrounding the game, saying “I’m really excited. I feel like we’re going to do great, and I hope everyone enjoys homecoming.”

Additionally, later this fall, GHS Cheerleaders will be holding a cheer clinic for future GHS cheerleaders. The clinic will be held in the old gym at Grants High School from 3:45–4:45.

The young cheerleaders will practice with the GHS cheer team on Oct 13th, 14th and 15th, then perform with the team on October 16 at the half of the Pirate football game against visiting Bloomfield. All proceeds will go to the GHS cheerleaders. Grades Pre-k and K6 are welcome to participate for $35 per child.
