On August 6, 1945, the United States executed the world’s first atomic strike by dropping a uranium-based bomb named “Little Boy” on Hiroshima, Japan. Despite prior warning broadcast to the population via the Potsdam Declaration on July 26, the vast majority of casualties were civilians.
