Basketball is rolling loud and fast as both Grants High School boys and girls basketball teams are busy playing in tournaments around the state. The lady Pirates went 1-2 at a recent tournament at Hobbs High School while the boys basketball team, coming off a loss to Taos (68-37), gear up for the Gallup Bengals Boys Invitational this upcoming weekend. Two college football players return home, mentor young players for winter break
Count the bucket! GHS senior Isaiah Hernandez, 23, takes the ball to the hole against the Shiprock Chieftains last week in the Pirates’ last game of the year. The Pirates defeated the Chieftains by a score of 68-45 and will end 2021 with a 6-3 record as they have a break before facing the Taos Tigers on Monday, January 3 at the Port of the Pirates.
