Locals featured in son’s award-winning photos

CIBOLA COUNTY, N.M. – Eric O’Connell grew up in Cibola County and graduated from Grants High School in 1986. According to O’Connell, growing up in Cibola County was very enjoyable. He enjoyed the area and having fun in the surroundings of nature.

State of Emergency

CITY OF GRANTS, N.M. – During the most recent Grants City Council meeting which took place July 15, Grants Mayor Martin “Modey” Hicks said he will declare a state of emergency for the City of Grants due to the ongoing drought in the area.

I-40 closed for fatal accident

CIBOLA COUNTY, N.M. – The Cibola County Sheriff’s Office responded to a multi-vehicle accident on July 14 that led to two fatalities and multiple injuries. The incident closed Interstate 40 for several hours, causing traffic backups.

Death by inhalant

CIBOLA COUNTY, N.M – The war on drugs continues to rage on in Cibola County, with little movement in the overall fight. In this conflict, the Cibola Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition has stepped up to battle the most easily accessed drugs in the county – inhalants.

CCSO teams up with probation and parole

CIBOLA COUNTY, N.M. – The Cibola County Sheriff’s Office arrested two people on Friday, July 8. The arrests came as part of a joint operation between CCSO and the Adult Probation and Parole Office’s Fugitive Apprehension Team to bring violators of the law to justice.
