CIBOLA COUNTY, N.M. – The Cibola County Sheriff’s Office, working in conjunction with the Homeland Security Investigations Criminal Interdiction Task Force, managed to seize $1,874,895.40 worth of illegal narcotics over the past week. That is over $1.8 million dollars.

An abandoned campfire is suspected to have been responsible for causing a brush fire on Mount Taylor on June 1. The small fire was near the Gooseberry Springs Trail on Forest Road 193 and burned approximately .08 of an acre.

Train derailed-A train derailment on Monday afternoon prompted evacuations inside the Pueblo of Laguna. The situation was not severe enough to spark a hazmat operation. For safety’s sake an order was put out for the pueblo to evacuate that was later restricted to the area nearest the derailment.

CITY OF GRANTS, N.M. – The City of Grants Police Department Street Crimes Unit, which was formed in October of 2020, arrested 62-year-old Rudy Gonzales for possession of heroin and possession with intent to distribute heroin.

GRANTS, N.M. - On Flag Day, June 14, 2021, the American Legion Post 80 held a ceremony to retire 687 U.S. Flags. Post Commander Aaron Dean said the reason why they had so many flags to retire was that they could not host the ceremony last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
