GRANTS, N.M. – The Grants High School Pirates are currently on a six game winning streak as they brought the broom out and swept the Del Norte Knights (1-7) in a doubleheader on Saturday, February 12, 15-4 and 18-0.

Spring Sports Blowing In

As the March winds open up the Pirate Baseball team is six games deep into the season and is currently 4-2 as they dominated I-40 rival, the Gallup Bengals (1-4), 9-6 and 11-1 in a double header last Saturday, March 5 in their home opener.

GRANTS, N.M. – March Madness is sweeping the state. However, both the Grants Highs School boys and girls programs exited early in the district tournament after one game.

This week's Athlete of the Week is Nick Bustos of the Grants High School boy’s Baseball Team. Nick, a junior, was the sole pitcher against the Gallup Bengals last week in the second game and he only allowed one run and earned an ERA of 1.4.
Dunk Time! Senior Isaiah Hernandez, 23, with a big dunk this past Tuesday against district rival the Belen Eagles. Despite Hernandez's dunk and a spirited fourth quarter effort the Pirates fell to the Eagles 61-43 in the first round of their district tournament and were eliminated. CIBOLA COUNTY, N.M. - The GHS boys’ basketball team was one and done in the first round of the district 5 4-A basketball tournament this past Tuesday, February 22, after a 61-43-point loss the Belen Eagles.

The Grants High School boys’ basketball team is 9-14, 2-6 after a pair of losses this past week. The Pirates traveled to the Duke City to take on district rival the St. Pius Sartans on February 17 and after leading in the first quarter 13-11 they trailed by only 1 point, 26-25, at the half.

GRANTS, N.M. – Coinciding with the 39th Annual Mount Taylor Quad, the 2022 Kids Quad gives the youth athletes of Cibola the ability to compete alongside their older counterparts. The 2022 event was the 10th consecutive kids’ quad, allowing children aged three to 12 the ability to compete.

Pirate wrestler prove worth

GRANTS, N.M. – At 106 points, it was enough to place the Grants High School wrestling team in second place at the 5 4-A district wrestling meet this past weekend at Belen High School, the host of the district tournament.
