The Board of Directors for the Cibola Arts Council and the Double Six Gallery have been busy sorting through ideas and suggestions for new exhibits and events for the coming year.

The first event on the new list is a celebration to be held in conjunction with National Hispanic and Latin American Month, on Saturday October 28 beginning at 6 p.m. we will debut the first 'Dia De Los Muertos' Celebration, a festive tribute and remembrance of those who have passed on. There will be a reception, music, and a presentation of colorful 'offrendas' (memorial tributes honoring the dead), these altars are usually decorated with flowers, the individual’s favorite foods and drinks, mementos of favorite sports teams, trophies, hobbies, etc. loved ones usually gather to honor and reminisce, eat and drink, toasting the loved one.

Double Six Gallery is inviting anyone who wants to come and build an “offernda' for the event, at no cost, there are about fifteen spaces available. Member artists have been invited to create artwork to coincide with the Celebration.
