PREWITT, N.M. – The Cibola -McKinley Bi-County Fair returns to Prewitt this week, bringing five days of livestock competition, youth agriculture, exhibits and community events over Labor
Day weekend.
The 57th Annual Bi-County Fair runs Thursday, Sept. 3 through Monday, Sept. 7, with this year’s theme, “Red Hearts, White Lights, Blue Ribbons,” celebrating 250 years of America.
Thursday is focused largely on exhibitor check-in, with 4-H indoor and open-building exhibits accepted from 3 to 6 p.m. Market animals, rabbits and poultry may be checked in from 4 to 6 p.m. Team roping begins at 6 p.m., followed by a mandatory livestock exhibitor meeting at 7:30
p.m.
Livestock competition gets underway on Friday with the Market Lamb Show at 9 a.m., Market Goat Show at 1 p.m. and Rabbit and Poultry Show at 3:30 p.m. Vendor booths will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday through Sunday.
Saturday includes the Market Swine Show at 9 a.m., pet show activities beginning at 11 a.m., the Market Steer Show at 2 p.m., a watermelon-eating contest at 4 p.m., basket bingo at 5 p.m. and the Prewitt Labor Day Classic Bull Riding Challenge at 6 p.m.
Sunday features 4-H games at 9:30 a.m., awards at 11:30 a.m. and the Junior Livestock Sale at 1 p.m.
The fair concludes Monday with the Debbie Lee Memorial Jr. Rodeo at 8 a.m. and final fairgrounds cleanup from 8 to
10 a.m.
