The Cibola County Correctional Center is a facility that acts as a jail for Cibola County residents; it is also a holding place for Immigrations and Customs Enforcement detainees; and it is a facility that holds United States Marshal Service detainees. On June 9, Albuquerque Police Department arrested and detained Albuquerque resident Juan Raymond Luevano for allegedly conducting a large Fentanyl trafficking operation.

APD’s Central Narcotics Unit had been working with the US Department of Drug Administration to conduct an investigation into Luevano. Detectives learned that Luevano was using a shop he owned, Chennell’s Beauty Supply in the Southwest area of Albuquerque, to conduct his narcotics operation.

On at least two occasions, several undercover operatives allegedly purchased a combined total of 7,000 Fentanyl pills from the beauty shop. A multi-agency operation was conducted to serve an arrest warrant on Luevano. Together, the agencies performed a “Buy-Bust” operation, that, combined with a warrant resulted in the following seizures:

One AR-15 rifle, that was loaded, and was allegedly discovered inside Luevano’s vehicle. Detectives allegedly seized 3,000 Fentanyl pills, $20,000 cash, 10 pounds of marijuana, an undisclosed amount of heroin, parts of a 9-millimeter handgun, and an undisclosed amount of ammunition.

Luevano was arrested and charged federally for drug trafficking and other firearm-related offenses. He has been placed in the federal holding part of CCCC. All people are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
