SANTA FE - The state’s Cannabis Control Division announced Todd Stevens as the new director of the Cannabis Control Division. Stevens has years of experience working in Colorado’s regulated cannabis industry.
Stevens comes to New Mexico from Colorado’s cannabis industry. Since 2015, Director Stevens worked as a manager at Native Roots Cannabis Company, one of the state’s largest cannabis companies. He most recently served as Manager of Training and Development. He gained extensive knowledge of the regulated cannabis industry operations, including cultivation, production, and compliance. Stevens executed the design and development of customized and interactive classroom and elearning solutions, including a comprehensive retail sales training program. Stevens also managed all employee trainings, recertified over 200 retail employees through a State Certified Vendor Training program. And as a District Manager, Stevens managed and oversaw operations at five dispensaries.
“In the past year, New Mexico has established a thriving new industry, licensed more than 2,000 cannabis businesses, and held those businesses to the high standard that comes with an adult-use cannabis market,” said Division Director Todd Stevens. “I am committed to building on this success while protecting consumer safety and promoting business practices that help this new industry continue to be a transformational economic driver.”
Stevens earned a degree from Blackburn College.
“Director Stevens’s experience as an industry leader made him the ideal candidate to take the lead at the CCD,” said Regulation and Licensing Department Superintendent Linda Trujillo. “I am confident in his ability to lead this team and make New Mexico’s regulated cannabis industry one to rival.”
