Herrell request for field hearing on border

WASHINGTON — Congresswoman Yvette Herrell (R-NM) has sent a letter to Chairwoman Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) of the Committee on Oversight and Reform requesting a field hearing on the New Mexico southern border to address security, public health, and illegal immigration issues.

SAN RAFAEL, N.M. – After being in custody for murder, Alejandro Balderrama was mistakenly released thanks to confusion as Balderrama was also being held on charges from the US Marshal’s Service, he was arrested by the Cibola County Sheriff’s Office and returned to prison three years ago.

Unemployment crisis

CIBOLA COUNTY, N.M. – As the United States emerges from the COVID-19 lockdown, refilling the lost jobs of pre-pandemic life is proving to be a challenge. Across Cibola County “Help wanted” and “Urgently hiring” signs are hard to miss as the county grapples with a 10.4 percent unemployment rate.

With all the recent rain Cibola County has been receiving during this monsoon, the village of Cubero suffered some serious flooding that washed out a couple of county roads this past week.

CIBOLA COUNTY, N.M. – The Grants/Cibola County Chamber of Commerce and New Mexico Mining Museum have hired a new director amid a flurry of political heat from Grants City Hall. A return for the director, Brenda Curtwright, means a return to business as both the G/CCCC and NMMM had known.
