GRANTS, N.M. - On January 22, 2026, the Cibola County Board of Commissioners convened for a two hour meeting in which they addressed the significant economic impact that the potential closure of the Milan Correctional Facility will have on Cibola County.

Sen George Munoz asked questions about the actual economic impact of HB9 to Village of Milan. Village of Milan Manager Candice Williams says 53% of total property tax comes from the one CoreCivic facility in Milan. Also 18% of water and sewer revenue. Diego Lopez - CC
