Dear editor,
Why Is It So Hard to Stop Gun Violence in America? (msn.com), because we cannot get the mental health people, schools, police, FBI, military, social media, and others to put people on the no gun purchaser list! In most cases they are not allowed to, do not know how, too lazy, or too afraid they will violate HIPAA Law’s which protect a patient’s private medical information. At the end of the day everybody likes to blame the mental health people who cleared them, https://spectrumlocalnews.com/nys/centralny/news/2022/05/18/accused-buffalo-killer-spoke-about-murder--suicide-in-2021. This last kid brought a AR-15 just before the shooting he was even online asking what was the best gun to use and how he planned to do it, https://www.cnn.com/2022/05/17/us/buffalo-massshooting-guns-suspect/index.html. So much for social media platforms notifying someone, guess they were too busy trying to figure out how to block Elon Musk, https://www.cbsnews.com/news/letitia-james-investigation-discord-buffalo-shooting-supermarket/. Instead of taking away qualified immunity from your local, law enforcement lets go after anyone who drops the ball. Now I know some of you would see this as too tough on the second amendment, but if you are denied on a background check today you can appeal to the ATF. If you have nothing to hide you could release all your social media information, and health records to them to show you are not a danger. And if something did show up even go through a new mental health interview. When I was in the military, we had to go through a background check of our security clearances every 5 years. I saw a lot of military recruiters at my past job checking up on new candidates getting ready to go into the service more than once. We do not need new laws just use the ones we have!
