Dear Editor:

Thank you to everyone that celebrated Independence Day at the Parade and the Rodeo Grounds. The fireworks at the Golf Course were amazing. I was so happy that Gunny George Garcia was selected for the honor of being the Grand Marshal of the Parade. He has inspired many, many of our youth through being a great leader and mentor.

What impressed me the most was the many kids and parents that were cleaning up the trash along the parade route and putting it in the bags our volunteers carried with them. I was touched that Ledawn Montoya, who lost her ability to walk from an accident, drove her motorized chair and asked for a litter stick, and she and her two exemplary children followed myself and the other volunteers and helped us clean up. I want to thank my children for coming to the parade and helping me out. Tanner, Brooke, DJ, Laura, Rachel, Paizleigh, Jared, Savannah, Tess, and was very proud of their desire to leave the City of Grants as clean, after the parade, as it was before the parade. A big thanks to all the City Employees that set trash cans and lined them, set up traffic control and did so much to keep our City clean.

When the Revolutionary War was won, other nations were watching. Our freedom was won because our forefather's cause was just. Our Constitution was divinely inspired and written by the hands of wisemen. Our nation is not perfect, but we have done our best to change those things which have hampered or hindered the rights of the oppressed. The US Constitution puts all power in the hands of the people. All men and women are created equal before God. I love the United States of America and support the US Constitution and all documents associated with it. I honor all who have answered the call of duty and put on our nation's uniform to defend it.

God bless America always!
