Ernest Royal Pemble passed away on January 13, 2026. Ernest was born in Tomahawk, WI on December 1, 1943, and was raised in Mercer, WI where he graduated from Mercer High School, Class of 1962. July of 1964, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and became a jet-engine mechanic stationed at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, NM. He was honorably discharged in 1968 and moved to Grants, NM with his wife Cheryl, where he worked as a heavy-equipment mechanic in the uranium mines, with drilling exploration companies and finally in the early 1980s started Ernie's Truck and Auto, which he ran until his retirement in 2010. He and his wife had two sons Ryan and Brandon.
Ernest is survived by his wife Cheryl of Grants, NM, son Brandon Pemble and daughter-in-law Rosa Armijo-Pemble, of Belen, NM, Grandchildren Korbyn Armijo-Pemble of Warrensburg, MO Jastin Armijo-Pemble, attending college in St. Louis, MO and Josiah Pemble of Belen, NM and brothers Melvin Pemble and Terry Pemble both of Mercer, WI.
He was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Betty Pemble, son Ryan Pemble, grandson Devin Armijo-Pemble, sisters Meredith Konzem and Bette Ruth McManus.
Services for Ernest will take place on Friday, January 23, 2026, at Cow Palace in Grants, NM at 10:00 am. Interment will immediately follow at Grants Memorial Park.
