Lois Adilia Godbey
Lois Adilia Godbey, age 85, passed away on August 23, 2026, surrounded by family.
She was born on February 6, 1941, in Silverton, CO as the daughter of James and Maxine Cole.
Lois started her life in Silverton, CO. Her and her husband, Jimmy Godbey, eventually moved to Grants, NM where they spent most of their married life and raised their family. The last seven years she lived in Joplin, MO with her daughter’s family. Lois was a homemaker for most of her life.
She loved deeply, cared fiercely, and was passionate about her faith and her dogs. She was always willing to help someone in need. She was an amazing cook. She loved to write and study the bible. She also loved to argue politics with anyone willing to do so. In the last seven years that she lived with her daughter and family, she wrote a novel that she self-published that is available on Amazon. Even as her health was failing and was not able to get out and do much, she kept her mind going. She was an amazing mother, grandmother, and friend. She will truly be missed by the ones she left behind.
She is survived by her brother Jimmy Cole and his daughter Sonia Cole. She is also survived by her two sisters-in-law Mary Godbey and Sue Godbey. She is survived by her two youngest daughters Tamara Miranda and Tamara’s husband Frank and their children Brittani, Mitchell, and Christine Miranda and Mitchell’s daughter Frankie Miranda. Also, by Tiffani Grow and her daughters Salem and Shiloh Grow.
The three oldest children preceded her in death. Johnny Brown was her oldest child. Richard Brown was the next one. His wife Marilyn Brown and their children, Michael Brown, James Brown and Nicole Candeleria and their children are still surviving. Wendy Hasler was third in line. Her husband, Bruce Hasler and her children Caren Sheets, Cathy Martinez, Don Sheets and Daniel Sheets are still surviving. The names of the surviving great grandchild and great great grand grandchildren of her three oldest children are Racheal Townsend, Michael Townsend, Wyatt Townsend, Kerelynn Townsend, Natalie Brown, Jordyn Brown, Taylor Renee Clark and her two children Atlas Clark-Johnson and Rory Allison, Kail Cox, Colton Martinez, Jessa Martinez, Mariah Sheets, Elyse Sheets, Evan May, Nuvia Sheets, Levi Sheets, Rachel Sheets, Ronin Sheets, Donny Sheets, Zyler Martin, and Trinity Garcia.
She was also preceded by her husband Jimmy Joe Godbey that passed January 31, 2022. Both Lois and Jimmy Godbeys ashes will be laid to rest at the end of September 2026 in the Cole family mausoleum in Silverton, CO.
Her love, strength, and the memories she created with her family will continue to live on in the lives of those who knew and loved her. Thank you for the continued prayers and thoughts for her family. She will truly be missed.
