The Grants Community Pantry was the beneficiary of a recent food drive held by the Knights of Columbus. Last week, Chris Madrid, a member of the Knights, dropped off approximately 500 lbs. of canned food at the Pantry. According to Maureen Savedra, the Pantry’s warehouse director, the canned food items will be used to fill emergency food boxes.
“Every little bit counts,” Savedra said.
“We are thankful for the Knights support over the years. They’ve been a great partner for many years,” she added.
The Community Pantry serves more than 700 Cibola County families a month through four programs – Commodity, Produce, Emergency, and Homeless. It is run with the help of volunteers and supported by local businesses, churches, and personal financial gifts.
The Grants Community Pantry, currently at 222 E. Stephens Avenue, will soon be moving to Sakelares Boulevard, next to the New Mexico Gas Company. Weekly food distribution is Tuesday through Thursday from 9 am to 12 pm. Call 505-287-5090 for additional information.
