“The 2024 Ayudando Siempre Alli Winner is truly a friend to New Mexico Agriculture and New Mexico Cattle Growers’ Association,” said President Bronson Corn. “Bill Williams is truly a civic leader who works hard for his community and state.” Although not born in the great state of New Mexico, Williams has lived here for nearly 60 years. He has lived in the Pecos Valley since 1974. Williams graduated from Hagerman High School and then received an Agriculture degree from New Mexico State University.
Williams has worked much of his early life in agricultural endeavors, and as a building contractor. In the late 1990’s, he began a career in government service and worked for the federal government in several roles until 2014. He worked for a short time as the Building Inspector, for the City of Roswell, before arriving to work at Chaves County in January of 2015 where he worked as the Director of Facilities. In June 2016, he was promoted to the role of Public Services Director. In December of 2020, he was appointed to the position of Chaves County Manager. Bill Williams’s favorite duties are working with people from throughout Chaves County to identify solutions to problems within the community while encouraging those who are working to make Chaves County a better place. Bill also enjoys working with agriculturalists and entrepreneurs to highlight that our rural counties produce food, fiber, and minerals for much of the world. Bill is honored to work with so many talented Chaves County employees who continually strive to make Chaves County the “best county in New Mexico.” In 2021, Bill was awarded the New Mexico State Employee of the year by the Arizona & New Mexico Coalition of Counties.
