Annabelle Aragon, a resident of Casa Blanca and a Laguna Tribal member, passed away on September 29, 2022 after suffering a short illness. She was 81.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and sister, Annabelle was born on February 9, 1941 in Paguate, New Mexico. She attended St. Catherine’s Indian School in Santa Fe, NM and would go on to earn a twoyear degree at Haskell Indian Nations University.

After earning her degree, Annabelle would start working at Fort Wingate Boarding School for approximately 10 years before returning to Laguna Pueblo where she would work for the Anaconda Mining Company. She would also work for her tribe as well as Laguna Industries. Before her passing in September, Annabelle was working for Four Corners Health Care of Grants, NM.

Annabelle enjoyed crafting and was quite adept at crocheting. She enjoyed giving away the items she made to family and friends. She loved traveling, being in the outdoors and spending time by the lake fishing or watching her grandkids participate in the chosen sports competitions.

She enjoyed a good John Grisham novel or a hard crossword puzzle and she was a fan of country music. Her generosity, strength and wonderful cooking will be greatly missed by all those who knew her. Annabelle thoroughly enjoyed spending her time with her grandchildren and all her family.

Annabelle is survived by her husband of 52 years Martin Aragon, sons Lynn Aragon, Keith Aragon and partner Gloria Lorenzo and daughter Linda Aragon and son-in-law Ben Kasero.

Surviving grandchildren are: Mychal Aragon and his wife Alicia and their children Sophia and Adrian; Darin Aragon, Krystin Weeker and Nicholas Kasero; Grandchildren include: Austin Aragon and son Koa, Tristin Aragon and partner Brianna and their daughter Tayliana.

Annabelle is also survived by sisters: Maxine Johnson of Riverside, CA and Gloria Martin of Paguate, NM; She is also survived by brother: Phillip Gaco from Paguate, NM.

Annabelle (Grandma Bop) had many grandsons, granddaughters, nieces and nephews, and other extended family who will miss her.

Annabelle was preceded in passing by her parents: Lola Lente and Henry Wacondo; and brother Alvin Paul Wacondo.

Funeral services for Annabelle were held on October 4, 2022 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Paraje, NM. Burial was at Paraje Cemetery.
