Donna M. Kie, 70, of Grants, New Mexico lost her strong fight against cancer. She passed away at home surrounded by family on December 12, 2020. She wanted to have a celebration of life service at the San Jose Mission in Old Laguna, NM. Currently the Pueblo of Laguna is closed to non-tribal members due to Covid-19. Arrangements will be made at a later date so others can join.

Donna was born in Albuquerque, NM to Charles and Margaret Kie on May 27, 1950. She grew up on the Laguna Pueblo. Donna was a graduate of West Mesa High School in Albuquerque. She later became an EMT and worked for Superior Ambulance service and The Mount Taylor Mine run by Gulf Mineral Resources Company in San Mateo, NM. After working and raising her four children, Donna decided to go back to school and earned an Associate Degree in Business Administration from Albuquerque TVI. Donna became a caretaker and animal advocate. She loved working the annual High Desert Cluster of Dog Shows at Expo New Mexico. Most of all Donna loved her grandchildren. She was ever present in her grandkids’ lives, cheering them on at all sorts of events. People would often refer to Donna as the “Energizer Bunny” because she was always on the go!

Her husband, Robert Bradley, father, Charles “Charlie” Kie, mother, Margaret K. Kie (Creager) precede Donna in death.

She is survived by her brothers, Fred Kie of New Laguna, NM, and David Kie and wife Elizabeth of Cedar Hill, TX; her daughter Camille Poncho-Pack, Albuquerque, NM; Sons Eric C. Poncho and wife Tricia of Albuquerque, NM. Jamie W Poncho and wife of Bloomfield, NM, and Cory D. Poncho and wife Heather of Kennewick, WA. She was loved and will be missed by all her grandchildren, Kyle, Kaliah, Brandon, Aaron, Taylor Beth, Ethan, Hunter, Jamie-Lynn, Olivia, Zoe, Zion, Kymani and Luna.

In lieu of flowers, Donna requested that donations be made in her memory to Animal Humane of New Mexico or Watermelon Mountain Ranch animal rescue in Rio Rancho.
