Eloy Gonzales, 69 of Rodarte, New Mexico passed away peacefully at his home in Milan, New Mexico on November 19, 2020. He was born on March 24, 1951 to Eloy Sr. and Onecima Gonzales of Rodarte, NM. On Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at St. Vivian’s Catholic Church in Milan, a Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m.. Followed by a Mass celebrated by Father Alberto Avella at 10:00 a.m.. Interment will follow at Grants Memorial Park.

During their teenage years Eloy met his beautiful, loving wife Minnie Martinez from Vadito, New Mexico. After the loving couple were married, they moved to Phoenix, where Eloy attended mechanic school. After leaving Phoenix the couple found a permanent home in Milan, this is where they welcomed their four handsome boys to their family.

Eloy was a Uranium mine worker for 12 years before he was hurt on the job. Being hurt didn’t stop Eloy from coaching the youth, Eloy started coaching along side his brother Felix in 1972 and never looked back. Eloy coached for over 45 years. There are countless children and families that have had their lives blessed by Eloy. Eloy’s last coaching job was along side his son David, they coached his grandson Marcus.

Eloy was also a CCD teacher to many children for many years. He wanted to make sure the youth knew about God. Eloy always said “God first, family second, and everything else will fall into place.”

He is survived by the light of his life, his loving wife Minnie M. Gonzales; his three sons: Eddie Gonzales Sr. and his wife Gloria, Timmy Gonzales and his fiancé Antoinette Sanchez, David Gonzales and his fiancé Anna Hardy; 13 grandchildren: Naomie, Eddie Jr., Trey, Sylvan, Anthony, Celeste, Davin, Dawson, Marcus, Nicholas, Christan, Matthew, and Travis; three great-grandchildren: Isaiah, Natalie, and Kai. His three brothers: Felix Gonzales and his wife Marvella, Florencio Gonzales and his wife Isabel, and Tommy Gonzales and his wife Juanita. Along with numerous other nephews, nieces, and Godchildren that also survive him.

He was preceded in death by his son: Norman Gonzales; his parents: Eloy Sr. and Onecima Gonzales; a sister: Diana Chavez; a brother: Jerry Gonzales; his in-laws: Frutoso and Rufina Martinez; and a brother inlaw: Gilbert Martinez.

Pallbearers include Eddie Gonzales Sr., Timmy Gonzales, David Gonzales, Eddie Gonzales Jr., Anthony Gonzales, Dawson Gonzales, and Davin Gonzales.

Honorary Pallbearers include Naomie, Marcus, Nicholas, Isaiah, Natalie, Celeste, Danielle, Brandon, Trey, Sylvan, Delany, Kiana, Aaliyan, Felix, Vivian, Jason, Josh, Samantha, Tiffany, Tieyerra, Gilbert Jr., Gilbert, Matthew, Christan, Mattea, and Kai.
