Gilbert Manning

Gilbert Manning, 91, of Grants, NM, passed away on October 23, 2022. He was born June 29th 1931 in San Rafael, NM. He graduated in 1949 from Grants Union High School then joined the U.S. Air Force in 1951 where he served during the Korean Conflict and left the service in 1955. On August 6, 1955 he married Dometilia (Tillie) Brito and they began their almost 65year journey together.

Gilbert was preceded in death by his wife, Tillie, with whom he had shared his life and missed dearly after her passing in 2020.

Gilbert is survived by sisters: Selza Molina, Rosie Maes and Charlene Ulibarri; children: Don Manning (Janine Kennedy), Liz Noble (Cleve Noble), Diana Manning (Jerry Vaughn), Wayne Manning (Stacey Manning); grandchildren: Tony Manning, Michelle Diaz, April Scott, Jennifer Rochlitz, Samantha Small, Ashley Vaughn, Hailey Burgen, Hunter Manning, Clay Manning, and Peighton Manning; thirteen great-grandchildren and nine greatgreat- grandchildren. Gilbert, an active member of our community, was an avid entrepreneur. With a strong work ethic and great moral character, Gilbert and his wife, Tillie, had several successful businesses which included Town & Country Liquors, Gilbert’s New and Used Furniture, a couple gas stations and a few other endeavors. He was also a Municipal Magistrate in the 1970’s and an active member of the St. Teresa Catholic parish most of his life.

We will miss you and hold you in our hearts forever. The family would like to extend their appreciation and gratitude to all of Gilbert’s friends and families for their prayers and support in his last days and throughout his life. Special thanks to those that provided care and supported him in his final hours as well.

The Rosary will be held for Gilbert Manning in Grants, New Mexico on February 3rd at 6 pm and the funeral service on November 4th at 10 am, both at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church. The Interment will follow at the Grants Cemetery and a Celebration of Life for both Gilbert and Tillie Manning will be held at the Knights of Columbus following the interment.
