Mabel was born to the late Luis McBride and Lorenza Jaramillo on August 24, 1934 in Grants, N.M. She was immersed in the Catholic community that became her lifelong support. She was an active parishioner of San Rafael Mission, was a member of the San Rafael Sacred Heart Guild and of The Grants Shekinah Prayer Group. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic School for girls in Farmington, N.M. and Union High School in Grants, N.M. Following graduation, she attended Highlands University in Las Vegas, N.M.

She worked with the City of Grants for many years but her true passion was working as a substitute teacher at Grants/Cibola County Schools, as well as an aide for Special needs children. Students knew that if Mrs. Torres was subbing, there would be no “funny business,” she was loved and respected by all her students.

Mabel was blessed with a large and loving family. She married her best friend, Ramon Torres, on August 23, 1958 in Grants, NM. Mabel raised her seven children with patience, discipline and always love. She dedicated her life to teaching them the value of hard work and was a true example of Faith in Jesus Christ. She loved playing board games, cards and making puzzles with her grandkids. A trip to grandma’s house meant there would be sweets and she passed along her sweet tooth to all of them. She had lifelong friends who loved her unconditionally. An amazing life for an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Mabel is survived by her husband: Ramon; her sons: Leandro (Tessie), Ramon Jr.(Traci); and her daughters: Cecilia Cantu (Roland), Carol Presser (Dustin), Ramona Torres, and Camille Vigil (Larry); her grandchildren: Adrian Quintana, Annessa Simpkins (Amos), Randy Valdez, Erica Aragon, Kyle Vigil, Mia Vigil, Joshua Jaramillo and Gabby, Isabelle, Lauren, Amelia Torres; her greatgrandchildren: Cheyenne and Abigail Quintana; Eve, Damian, Amos and Lincoln Simpkins.

She was preceded in death by her daughter: Clara Torres; her parents and step mom: Clara McBride.
