Matthew W. Herrera was born in Embudo, New Mexico. He was 48 years of age. He passed away on January 20, 2022 in Grants, New Mexico.

Matthew a resident of Milan, was a husband, father, brother, friend and mentor. He loved his family and friends. Always in the shop working on cars with his sons. He worked at McKinley Paper Company for 18 years. Any chance he got he rode his Harley Davidson with his family and friends. Always down for a good time but meant business when push came to shove. His quick wit kept everyone laughing, you never knew what he would say or do next. Always lending a helping hand to those in need. Matthew was the rock of his family and will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother William and Sophie Herrera. Survived by his wife Virginia Herrera, sons William and Nathaniel Herrera, brother Tim Herrera and his wife Alicia and several nieces and nephews. On Monday January 31, 2022 at St. Vivian’s Catholic Church in Milan, a Memorial Rosary will be recited at 9:30 AM, then at 10:00 AM a Memorial Mass will be celebrated by Father Alberto Avella. Interment of the cremated remains will follow at Grants Memorial Park.

Honorary pallbearers include; William Herrera, Nathaniel Herrera, Tim Herrera, Andreas Herrera, Xavier Herrera, Robert DeHerrera, Manuel Manzanares, Marcellus James, Damian Nunez, Bojo Montoya, James Ortiz, and Paul Montoya.
