Orlando Archunde, 70, a life-long resident of San Rafael, N.M. His battle with cancer in recent years showed his courage in facing life’s challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, Orlando came out a hero and stayed strong to the end.

Orlando passed away on April 3, 2022 with his loving wife Darlene at his side.

He will be remembered for his sense of humor, his love of family, his willingness to help everyone, and of course his love for horseraces.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years: Darlene; his son: Patrick Martinez of Las Vegas, N.V.; his daughters: Peggy Martinez of Las Vegas, N.V., Isabel Baca and husband of Ogden, Utah; his mother: Edith Archunde of San Rafael; his sisters: Charlotte Vigil of San Rafael, N.M., Teresa Garcia of San Rafael, Helen Martinez and husband Robert of Grants, N.M.; Brothers: Henry Archunde of Snowflake, A.Z., Denny Archunde and wife Barbara of Grants, N.M., Benny Archunde and wife Esperanza of San Manuel, A.Z.; Brothers-in-Law: Robert Martinez and wife Theresa of Grants, N.M., Antonio Martinez and wife Eileen of Menifee, C.A., Leroy Martinez and wife Antoinet of Milan, N.M., Rick Martinez and partner Eddie of Grants, N.M.

He is also survived by his grandchildren: Austin Garcia, Alicia Garcia, Orlando Archunde III, Michael Baca Jr., Christopher Baca, Erica Martinez, Briana Martinez; Great-grandchildren: Dominic, Izaac, Jezabel, Izaiah, Michael, Cody, Brielle, Seth, Enrique, and Arianna; His Goddaughters: Joanna Martinez, Roxanna Martinez, Tina Apodaca, and Lizette Archunde.

He has numerous nephews and nieces who he loved very much. Graveside services will be April 13, 2022 at 2 p.m. at the San Rafael Cemetery.
