Raul Armando Martinez-Baca, age 67, of Grants, NM, passed away on April 5, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. Raul was born on April 27, 1954 to mother and father, Matilda Baca and Alfredo Martinez. Raul was raised in a small village (Juan Mata Ortiz) in Chihuahua, Mexico, and as a young man, he traveled to Grants where he met the love of his life, Denise (Sabroe) Martinez. The two married on April 5, 1977. Raul and his family spent many years living in San Diego, CA, before returning to Grants in 1995. While in Grants, Raul worked for and retired from Lee Ranch, El Segundo Coal Mine. Raul was a hard-working and caring man. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, golfing, listening to music, and watching sports. After retirement, he and Denise spent time caring for their grandchildren and spending time with each other.

Raul is survived by his wife: Denise Martinez; his daughter: Nichol Martinez (partner – Floyd); grandchildren: Andrew, Ashley, and Armando; son: Raul Martinez (wife – Loyola Martinez); and grandchildren: Adelina and baby boy Martinez); son: Adrian Martinez; grandchildren: Gema, Teresa, and Ashton); daughter: Andrea Benavidez; grandchildren: Andre and Dreyden); sister: Olivia Solorzano (husband-Rudolfo); and many beloved in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother: Matilda Baca; and his father:

Memorial services will be held at l0 a.m., on Friday, April 22, 2022 at The Way, Truth, and Life Ministries in Grants. Immediately following the memorial service, all attendees are invited to San Rafael Cemetery for the burial service (at approximately 11 am) and Knights of Columbus hall for a celebration of life reception (at approximately 12 pm).

The Martinez family would like to thank the staff at Cibola General Hospital for their kind and sincere care of Raul during his final days. The family is truly appreciative of the professional services, expertise and the compassion provided during that time. Of all the hospitals in New Mexico, the family is grateful that Raul was cared for by such a great team in Grants where he was close to home.
