Thomas Allen Jackson, longtime resident of Grants, retired school superintendent for Grants/Cibola County Schools, community leader, businessman, rancher, and mentor passed away January 11, 2022 at the Cibola County General Hospital.

Tom entered this world on August 12, 1949 at his family's home in rural Ohio. He was a decorated Vietnam Veteran, earning two Purple Hearts, the Bronze Star for valor, the Combat Infantry Badge, and a Presidential Unit Citation.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Laurence S. Jackson I and Betty Mae Jackson (Daugherty), and his 4 siblings: Laurence S. Jackson II, Ronald F. Jackson, Harrold R. Jackson, and Yvonne K. Montes. He is survived by his wife of nearly 52 years, Socorro Jackson and their children: Patricia Paul (Christian), Katherine Trujillo (Gabe), and Thomas Jackson Jr (Julie Hidalgo). He leaves behind eight grandchildren: Hope Trujillo (Leon Rivers), John Thomas Trujillo, Joseph Trujillo, Guillermo Paul, Genevieve Paul, Juliette Paul, Steven Paul, and Isaac Paul. He also leaves behind his twin great granddaughters Ashlynn and Brooklyn Rivers.

In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made to the NM Appaloosa Horse Association for a memorial scholarship in Tom’s honor.
