Courtesy photo On Sept. 13 fire crews rushed to the site of a blaze at the Route 66 Tow Yard after being dispatched to a semitruck on fire. Grants Fire and Rescue joined Milan Fire Department and other first responders to put the fire out, working together the crews managed to extinguish the fire and to ensure the safety of all individuals in the area. Area residents and passersby’s on Interstate-40 reported seeing flames coming from the tow yard. The fire is still under investigation by authorities.
Homestake experiences spill

MILAN, N.M – Homestake Mining Company of California has alerted authorities to a spill of uranium-contaminated water. Despite the spill, Homestake officials say there is no threat to the people living near the Homestake site and that the contaminated water is being cleaned up.
