Acoma Man Pleads Guilty to Sexual Abuse

ACOMA PUEBLO – Karl Shroulote, Sr., 46, of Acoma Pueblo pleaded guilty to sexual abuse on the pueblo. Shroulote is an enrolled member of the Acoma Pueblo. Sentencing has not been scheduled but he will not be remanded to prison until scheduling.

Navajo Woman Sentenced for Laguna Assault

LAGUNA, N.M. – Audra Lee, 38, an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation was sentenced on December 13 to five years and 10 months in prison for assault with a dangerous weapon back in 2020. The sentencing came after years of deliberation and rejected plea deals.

Fire in the Village of Milan

A fire in the Village of Milan on December 26 was caused after a citizen with a burn permit lost control of the fire they started to eliminate overgrown weeds. The fire was in the area of Motel Drive.

Christmas Traffic Causes Chaos

Across Cibola County on Christmas Eve, December 24, a series of traffic accidents cut off all traffic into and out of Grants, New Mexico. The chaos caused by these accidents, while none of them were fatal, was more than enough to spread local law enforcement thin.

A Bridge for Moquino

Monsoon rains wreaked havoc across Cibola County but hit the eastern part of the county especially hard. County roads were washed out and the bridge to the village of Moquino was destroyed.
The Moquino bridge is the only access connecting the village to the rest of the county.

Animal Care Center Needs Community Support

The City of Grants Animal Care Center held its annual holiday Open House Thursday, December 22, 2022 from 12 pm to 4 pm. Members of the community were invited to come and visit the care center, meet the amazing staff, and possibly find a new family member.
