Uranium Mining Returns to Cibola

SEBOYETA, N.M. – Uranium mining was once the largest economic strength for the Greater Grants area, which at the time was part of Valencia County, New Mexico. Shortly after the collapse of uranium in the United States, Cibola County was formed and Grants became the county seat.

Car Crash Claims Life of Infant

MILAN, N.M. – An early morning car accident claimed the life of an infant child on August 2. The accident occurred near Milepost 79 just outside the Village of Milan, New Mexico. A vehicle rollover was responsible for the fatality, all other passengers in the vehicle were unharmed.

Grants Girls in STEM

With an increased emphasis on STEM in both education and the workplace, two girls from the Grants area recently had the opportunity to attended Tech Trek, New Mexico, a summer STEM camp, sponsored by the American Association of University Women (AAUW).

Battle of the Badges 2022

GRANTS, N.M. – The annual Battle of the Badges Blood Drive is going to be held July 28 at the Grants Recreation Center. A trophy travels the county to various departments that win the battle.

200 Deaths from COVID-19 in Cibola

COVID-19 continues its slow grind through Cibola County, and the rest of the world. In Cibola, 200 residents have now died from COVID-19. 8,130 positive tests have been recorded in Cibola since the beginning of the pandemic in early March 2020.
