Governor fills Supreme Court vacancy

SANTA FE, N.M. – Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham has appointed Briana H. Zamora of the New Mexico Court of Appeals to the state Supreme Court, closing the vacancy left by the Honorable Justice Barbara J. Vigil, who retired.

CIBOLA COUNTY, N.M. – Eric O’Connell grew up in Cibola County and graduated from Grants High School in 1986. According to O’Connell, growing up in Cibola County was very enjoyable. He enjoyed the area and having fun in the surroundings of nature.

CITY OF GRANTS, N.M. – During the most recent Grants City Council meeting which took place July 15, Grants Mayor Martin “Modey” Hicks said he will declare a state of emergency for the City of Grants due to the ongoing drought in the area.

I-40 closed for fatal accident

CIBOLA COUNTY, N.M. – The Cibola County Sheriff’s Office responded to a multi-vehicle accident on July 14 that led to two fatalities and multiple injuries. The incident closed Interstate 40 for several hours, causing traffic backups.
