This past Saturday the Village of Milan had a very successful cleanup. We had a big turnout, and everyone had a good time. Village Manager Sarah Austin, her husband MFD Chief Austin, new Code Enforcement Officer Michael, other firefighters and Village employees showed up also.

I think we all wish and dream that normalcy… the way it was before COVID -19 will return. I daydream of the Bibo Bar’s green chili cheeseburger and I try to visit there each spring.
At the onset of every City of Grants Council meeting, Mayor Martin “Modey” Hicks declares that the city is not in compliance with their charter. What exactly does that mean?
Well, it’s a little complicated, and we’ll get there if you stick with us.
First, we need to understand what a charter is.
Our future here in Cibola County is the responsibility of the leaders and community members living here now. It’s up to us to plan and achieve things for our children so they too can have a future in the community we grew up and live in.

I wanted to thank everyone that turned out for our Cibola County Cleanup at Mt. Taylor Addition this past Saturday. Grants City Councilman Erik Garcia, George Olveda, Tony Canaba, the Ford family, and many others came to help and make their community cleaner.
I watched the news this morning and logged the new COVID numbers in New Mexico today on my calendar as I have done since it came to America. I am gladdened that the number of cases has slowed tremendously as have the deaths… things are looking up!

COVID-19 has killed more Americans than all four of those violent tragedies combined.
This is why we mask. We mask for the veteran at church. We mask for our grandmothers making our favorite foods. We mask for the expecting mother at the grocery store.

Tone is a powerful thing. Tone refers to the way in which things are said, and the way a person sounds when they speak. Tone is something that constantly shows up when discussing literature and writing.
