Friday nights have a little more swing to them as the high school football season takes off. This past Friday saw a packed stadium as an upbeat and energetic Grants High School Pirate football team took to the field in their season opener against the 6-A Capital Jaguars.

The first home game time of the year is slated for this Friday, August 18 at 7 p.m. at the Port of the Pirates. They are playing against Capital High of Santa Fe, N.M. The Pirates lost to Capital last year 576 and finished the season with a 1-9, 0-3 record.
