Pirates Claim #1 Seed

The Grants High School Pirate baseball team garnered a number one seed in the Nusenda Credit Union state baseball tournament in class 4A. “A lot of expectations come with being a one seed—we will take a one game at a time approach not overlooking any opponent,” said GHS head coach Mike Furbee.

Track Statistics

The Grants High School Pirates Track and Field team hosted a meet this past weekend. The Grants Pirates 2023 invitational had many local schools participating on a relatively calm Spring Day. Top performers for the Pirates were Knight Long, with a first place in the 100meter dash with a time of 11.

The Grants High School Baseball Team got the job done last week as they defeated the St. Pius Sartans to claim the district championship in district 5 4-A. “Our first goal coming into the season was the district championship—-and we got that,” said Mike Furbee, head coach of the GHS baseball team.

Lady Pirates Tennis District Champs

The Lady Pirates Tennis Team became district champions on Friday by defeating the Belen Eagles 7-2. It is the first district championship for Lady Pirate Tennis since 2002. According to Coach Rychener, “We are a resilient team because we have so much depth!

Big-bats-be-just-aswinging! The Grants High School Pirates Baseball Team with a solid,185, 5-0 record, are ranked second in the state in 4A and will battle for bragging rights with the number one ranked team in 4-A and district rival, the St. Pius Sartans (15-4, 32), on Tuesday, April 18 at home.

ALBUQUERQUE NM - New Mexico United and San Diego Loyal SC fought to a 1-1 draw on Saturday night in front of 11,233 fans at Rio Grande Credit Union Field at Isotopes Park. An early goal from captain and midfielder Sam Hamilton got the evening started off on the right foot.
