Cibola’s Drought Conditions Continue to Improve

Drought conditions in Cibola continue to improve through August thanks to significant rainfall across the county. August saw an increase in rainfall, with 1.01 inches more than average. August 2022 was the 17th wettest August in the history of drought tracking in the area, going back 128 years.

Crime of Opportunity

MILAN, N.M. – During the nighttime and into the early morning of September 16, Ortega’s Propane in the Village of Milan was robbed. Milan Police Department has already made an arrest in this investigation and is working to recover the stolen tools and items that were taken from the business.

School Board Discusses Academics and Safety

GRANTS, N.M. – The Grants Cibola County School Board met on September 6 for its regularly scheduled meeting. On the agenda were three presentations to come before the board. The first was a School Site Presentation for Grants High School introduced by Principal Lane Widner.

GRANTS, N.M. – Recently, a reader sent a photo of their tree which had some strange webbing wrapped around some of the branches. The tree appeared to be dying from the bug infestation, and the mass of webbing left neighbors asking, “How many spiders does it take to create that?
