New District Court Program

The Thirteenth Judicial District Court will operate a Pretrial Services program, starting May 17th, 2022, for the district and magistrate courts in Cibola County. Under our American justice system, people charged with a crime are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

Student Poets Win Big

GRANTS, N.M. – Student poets at Los Alamitos Middle School recently won big thanks to their creative writing. Los Alamitos had a winner for both grades and an overall winner between the two grades. Contestants in this competiton were charged with writing an original, descriptive poem.

Update on April Prewitt Shooting

PREWITT, N.M. – The New Mexico State Police were involved in a shooting near Prewitt on April 16. The shooting left one man, who was a suspect in an alleged murder just days earlier in North Carolina, dead.

COVID-19 on the Rise

COVID-19 is on the rise once again in Cibola County. As of publication, Cibola County has more active COVID-19 cases than it had in the middle of March, when Omicron was beginning to fade from the county. Vaccination rates against COVID-19 are on the rise, along with deaths.

Fire in Cibola National Forest

SOCORRO COUNTY, N.M. – A massive fire has erupted in the Cibola National Forest. The Bear Trap Fire is in the San Mateo Mountains of Socorro County, and is not threatening the Village of San Mateo in Cibola County. The fire has caused roads and campgrounds to be shutdown.
