SAN FIDEL, NM – St. Joseph’s Mission School is located in the village of San Fidel, an unincorporated community of Cibola County that had limited opportunity and access for education. The school served the disenfranchised area, opening opportunities for Cibola’s students to receive an education in line with state-standards while keeping a focus on faith. The school has now been serving the community for 100 years.

On May 11, a group of community leaders and locals attended a gathering at St. Joseph’s to honor the centennial anniversary.

St. Joseph’s Mission School is regulated by the New Mexico Public Education Department and the Gallup Catholic Diocese. The Cibola Citizen did reach out to the school with questions about the history and future of St. Joseph’s but did not hear back before deadline.
