ALBUQERQUE, N.M. - On December 18, President Trump tweeted for the second time in less than a week that he plans to veto the bipartisan National Defense Authorization Act. New Mexico is home to five military installations, including two in the Second Congressional District, that rely on the funds allocated in this bill to protect our national security, ensure mission readiness, and support our servicemembers and their families.

"New Mexico - especially the Second Congressional District-is vital to our national security," said Democratic Party ofNew Mexico Chair Marg Elliston. "Supporting our troops and investing in our national security should always come before partisan politics, which is why Representative-elect Herrell must stand up for New Mexicans and call on the president to sign the NDAA into law."

The NDAA has passed both the House and the Senate with overwhelming bipartisan support, including with the backing of the entire New Mexico Congressional Delegation. This bill would allocate funds to support the work taking place across New Mexico at Holloman, Cannon, and Kirtland Air Force Bases as well as White Sands Missile Range and the !50th Special Operations Wing.

President Trump endorsed Representative-elect Herrell in her race to represent New Mexico's Second Congressional District and held a telephone town hall in support of her candidacy earlier this year.
