Voter Registration Eligibility To be eligible to register to vote, you must:

• Be a U.S. citizen.

• Be a resident of New Mexico.

• Be at least 18 years old on or before the next election.

How to Check Your Registration Status

• Confirmation by Mail: After submitting your voter registration application, either online or by mail, you'll receive confirmation by mail from the Cibola County Clerk's Office once your application is processed.

• Online Verification: Visit the My Registration Information page https://portal. sos.state.nm.us/OVR/We bPages/InstructionsStep1.as px to look up your current registration status and details.

Important Times

• Registration Deadline: Voter registration closes at 5:00 p.m. Mountain Time on the 28th day before any election. For the June 4 Primary, that will be May 7. Applications submitted after this time will be processed after the election.

Registering with a Criminal Conviction

During Incarceration: If you are currently incarcerated for a felony in New Mexico, you cannot vote.

Post-Incarceration: Once released, you can register to vote even if on probation or parole. You have the opportunity to register through an online portal, a paper form, or while obtaining a license or ID at the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD).

Major Parties: Democratic Party, Republican Party, Libertarian Party of New Mexico

Minor Party: Green Party of New Mexico

Note: New Mexico holds closed primary elections, meaning you must register with one of the major parties to participate in primary elections.

Registering for the First Time by Mail

If you are registering for the first time and are submitting your form by mail, include: • A copy of a current and valid photo identification, OR

• A document that shows your name and current address (e.g., utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, student ID, or other government document including identification issued by an Indian nation, tribe, or pueblo).

If you do not provide one of these with your registration form, you will need to present one when you vote in person or absentee.
