LAS CRUCES, N.M. — Representative Xochitl Torres Small’s campaign announced the endorsements of a coalition of law enforcement leaders from across New Mexico’s Second Congressional District. The group, composed of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs, represents departments ranging in size that are tasked with keeping rural, urban, and border communities safe.

The law enforcement leaders supporting Rep. Torres Small’s reelection are Tatum Police Chief Mae Jackson, Guadalupe County Sheriff Lorenzo Mata, Luna County Sheriff Kelly Gannaway, James Harris, Belen Chief of Police, Doña Ana County Sheriff Kim Stewart, and former Grant County Sheriff Raul Villanueva.

“Xochitl Torres Small has been a reliable ally for law enforcement across the state — no matter the size of their department. I know she is up for tough fights, which is why I have the utmost confidence that she will continue to put the needs of New Mexicans first when re-elected. I’ll be proud to cast my ballot for Xochitl Torres Small and encourage all New Mexicans to join me,” said Tatum Police Chief Mae Jackson.

“Rep. Torres Small understands the importance of supporting local law enforcement and has worked to give us the resources we need to keep our communities safe. She knows that different communities face different challenges when it comes to keeping their residents safe and has made sure that all communities across central and southern New Mexico have a seat at the table,” said James Harris, Belen Chief of Police.
