CIBOLA COUNTY, N.M. – Celebrating Cibola County’s event of the year, the Grants Cibola-County community enjoyed a successful 2022 Chamber Banquet.

On March 1 the City of Grants and Village of Milan held their municipal elections to choose a mayor and two new members of their governing body. The City of Grants also elected a new municipal judge.

CIBOLA COUNTY, N.M. — The Cibola County Board of Commissioners held a regular commission meeting on Thursday, February 24, at 5 p.m. Three commissioners were present at the meeting: Commissioner Christine Lowery, Commissioner Robert Windhorst, and Commissioner/Chairman Daniel Torres. The agenda was approved, after removing three items from the agenda first.

Miss Ja'Jianae has been an outstanding student here at Laguna-Acoma. She has worked very hard and has taken advantage of all the extra credit opportunities in Ms. Seneca Riley's class. Currently, she has a 101% (A+) in Independent Research. We, meaning all students and staff here at Laguna Acoma High School would like to congratulate Ja'Jianae on her amazing accomplishment! PREWITT, N.M. – Killing one, the rollover of a semi-truck on Interstate 40 outside of Prewitt, New Mexico in the early morning of February 22 is being investigated by the New Mexico State Police.

Statewide, NM - State Police will be conducting sobriety checkpoints, saturation patrols; and registration, insurance, and driver's license checkpoints in all New Mexico counties during the month of March 2022.

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Attorney General Hector Balderas and District Attorney Dianna Luce announce that Alexis Avila has been boundover on the crimes of attempted first degree murder and child abuse resulting in great bodily harm. Judge William Shoobridge held that the evidence presented provided probable cause to believe that the crimes were committed. Avila, a Hobbs High School student, is accused of placing her newborn child in multiple plastic bags filled with trash before throwing him into a dumpster in freezing conditions behind a Hobbs business.
